Two brothers, one shared conviction. Dr. Matthew and Dr. Mike Janzen built Scoliosis Care Centers from the ground up in San Jose, California — and have never stopped refining their approach since.

Co-founder & Clinical Director

Dr. Matthew Janzen is the primary architect of the Silicon Valley Scoliosis Method. With over 17 years of clinical experience treating adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, he has refined a comprehensive protocol that integrates custom bracing, physiotherapy, and MRI-guided monitoring into a single accountable care pathway.

Dr. Matt is known for his direct, evidence-based approach and his willingness to tell families the truth — including when other providers have made promises the evidence cannot support.

Co-founder & Lead Clinician

Dr. Mike Janzen leads clinical operations across both SCC locations. He has a particular focus on pediatric scoliosis cases and on building the trust of patients who have already been through discouraging experiences with traditional watch-and-wait or surgical pathways.

Patients describe Dr. Mike's care as having the warmth of a family practitioner with the technical depth of a specialist — and that combination is precisely what SCC was designed to deliver.

2008
Founded in San Jose, California

Dr. Matthew and Dr. Mike Janzen open the first Scoliosis Care Centers clinic in the heart of Silicon Valley, treating children and teens from the greater Bay Area with a bracing-first, surgery-last philosophy.

2010
Adopting SOSORT Guidelines

SCC formally aligns its bracing and rehabilitation protocols with the Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT) international standards — one of the first US practices to do so.

2013
In-House Engineering Team Established

Frustrated by off-the-shelf brace limitations, SCC builds its own 3D scanning and device fabrication team to produce custom Rigo Chêneau and nighttime braces with precision impossible in outsourced manufacturing.

2017
Radiation-Free MRI Monitoring Introduced

SCC becomes an early adopter of standing upright MRI for scoliosis monitoring, eliminating cumulative radiation exposure for growing patients who require regular spinal imaging throughout adolescence.

2020
ScoliSnap™ Screening Program Launched

Responding to gaps in school-based scoliosis detection, SCC launches ScoliSnap™ — a community screening program that brings early detection events directly to schools and pediatric clinics across California.

2022
Second Clinic Opens — Oklahoma City, OK

Demand from families outside California leads to the opening of SCC's second full-service clinic in Oklahoma City, extending the Silicon Valley Method to the central United States.
